The Strathalbyn racecourse, on the southern edge of town is a picturesque spot, with expansive lawn areas surrounded by rose bushes. There are 16 race meetings held every year, including the well-known Strathalbyn Cup, Langhorne Creek Vignerons’ Day and Mary Potter Foundation Race Day.

Events
Every year, on the Sunday of the Labour Day Long Weekend, the Strathalbyn Horses in Action Show Day is held. In 2017 the Horses in Action Show will be on Sunday 1 October at the polo grounds, Callington Rd, from 9am.
